NHS Dentist Fees
Unless you are entitled for free treatment under the NHS you will require to pay 80% of the cost of your NHS dental treatment up to a maximum of £384 per course of treatment. Please find below a table with examples of some costs for some dental treatments available under NHS. Fees are as of 1st April 2015:
Who is entitled for free dental treatment on the NHS?
NHS treatment is free for:
Everyone aged under 18;
Those aged under 19 in full-time education;
Pregnant and nursing mothers, until the baby is 12 months old;
Income support/ job seekers allowance
Please take evidence of any exemption with you to the dentist.

What is Prior Approval?
After your consultation, the dentist may inform you he/ she needs to apply for prior approval before the treatment can be started. This means that the dentist will require approval from the health-board before commencing treatment. Prior approval is required for certain treatments and also if your treatment exceeds the maximum fee of £384. Having to apply for prior approval may take a little time and delay your treatment slightly. Please be advised that it may take from 2-8 weeks for your treatment to be approved.
Are all treatments available on the NHS?
Not all treatments are available on the NHS. Cosmetic treatments are not available under NHS. However this are available privately at our practice.
Your dentist will be able to explain what treatment is and is not allowed on the NHS.
What treatment can I have on the NHS?
Most dental procedures are available under the NHS such as:

Extractions / surgical extractions
Crowns, veneers and bridges*
* Please note that not all crowns, bridges, veneers and dentures are available on the NHS.
